Start with licensing and insurance
Requirements vary by state and sometimes by city, so the first question is simply whether the company is licensed to do this work where you live. Ask for the license number and check it against your state's licensing board rather than taking a screenshot at face value.
Insurance matters just as much. General liability covers damage to your property, and workers' compensation covers anyone injured on site. Ask for a certificate of insurance issued directly by the insurer, and check the dates are current.
Look at how long they've been doing this
A warranty is only as good as the company standing behind it. A business trading for a decade under the same name is a different proposition from one incorporated last spring. Company registration records, review history and the age of their web presence all help build a picture.
Ask for local references — and use them
Ask for addresses of recent projects in your area and, where possible, speak to those homeowners. The useful questions aren't about whether the windows look nice; they're about whether the crew turned up when promised, how the site was left each evening, and what happened when something went wrong.

- Who was the day-to-day point of contact?
- Were any snags fixed, and how quickly?
- Would you use them again?
Read the paperwork before the pressure starts
A written quote should identify the product, the installation method, what happens to the existing frames and trim, the payment schedule, and the warranty terms for both the product and the labour. If a company won't put those things in writing, that in itself is the answer.
Be cautious with any offer that only exists if you sign today. Legitimate professionals expect you to take time over a decision of this size.
